Symposium of Facial Plastic Logo designed by Dr Sam Lam

I am on the committee for the 10th international and was on a conference call when they were saying they needed a logo design.  After I got off the phone, I whipped this up for fun.  I played with the idea of FPS (facial plastic surgery) and the P being also a 10 for the 10th international.  However, the committee went with a simpler logo of a woman wearing a wide brimmed hat.  So be it.  This logo is a bit confusing to be honest, but I had fun making it.  I guess that is what counts.

HHC Banner designed by Dr Sam Lam

This banner was part of a design campaign that I created without charge (as all my logos are) for my cousin Gordon who has been helping with relief for China’s earthquake victims.  This banner is rather straightforward in which I used stenciled out and color contrasts to emphasize the two elements that are repeated in the logo.

Even though this logo design was not accepted, I still love it and love the fun I had making it.  As you can see the hearts and hands symbol are like two hands holding each other but also the tilt of the H’s look like a heart.  Obviously, it goes without saying that the first red H symbolizes the hearts and the second open H represents the hands of the Hearts and Hands logo.  I used the floating line as a grounding element to the design.

La Paloma Spa Logo by Dr Sam Lam

A woman was going to open a spa in my building before she backed out, and I decided to create my own spa.  Being of Spanish descent, she wanted the name La Paloma, which means dove.  I liked the name (although less so recently when I saw some low-end, fast food chicken outlet by the same name) and created this logo using the elements of L and P of La Paloma to create the wings of the dove.  Perhaps a bit abstract but that is the point of a logo anyway.  Anything too concrete or obvious in a logo bores me to death!

Willow Bend Wellness logo by Dr Sam Lam

Ok, this one is one of my top two logo designs (besides the logo for LFP, which I love even more).  My architect, Gary Williams, said that it was the best logo that he has ever seen, which given his artistic acumen I take as a great compliment.  As you can see, the three elements are simply reflections of the WBW acronym of my center.  I also like the idea that the curvilinear design and color scheme are reminiscent of sinewy, bending willow trees.

Advanced Aesthetic Academy logo by Dr Sam Lam

As part of my mission to teach, I created this academy with a physician with whom I no longer work so this academy never really took off.  Nevertheless, I created a logo for it that I thought was befitting.  Using multiple curved stripes and the dot, the imagery subtly but obviously reflects the AAA acronym of Advanced Aesthetic Academy.  Fortunately, I have found many other teaching venues to satisfy my desire to educate.  I still enjoyed designing the logo.

Luminaire Logo designed by Dr Samuel Lam

I came up with the name luminaire when reading a book on lighting, as luminaire is the name for theatrical lighting.  I thought it carried a French flaire, had a nice theatrical (pardon my pun) sound that also reflected the lasers used and also was alliterative.  The curved lines are reflective of the light beams emanating outward.  The purple blue seemed to fit well for my concept.  Again, I lack an ability to discuss color with professorial authority, as most of my work falls within the realm of the intuitive rather than the schooled.
